Football is developing rapidly in the United States, and college football is the recruiting institution for the professional clubs.
It could be through the MLS Draft, or via USL2 summer leagues. Many are also recruited through scouting during college season. If a player performs and develops there, there are a lot of opportunities that come, Delgado said.
Winning scholarships
The entrance to getting this opportunity could be participation in this year’s High Performance program. The Nexus Global will be on the sidelines. Along with a number of scouts from Sporting, Benfica, Braga, Vitoria, Estoril, Belenenses and Estrela da Amadora.
NF High Performance is an intensive 10-day development camp, where players are guided by top UEFA coaches with national and international experience.
The players who participate must keep from a high regional to high national level, and have a strong motivation to develop their skills.
The program is a combination of training sessions and matches against the Portuguese top academy.
High Performance is the most suitable program for the older players, who started their development journey with NF Academy when they were younger. This exclusive program is the final step in our development model. It is focused on creating career opportunities in professional football and good human values, says NF Academy Sports Director Gonçalo Moura.
