Most of the players that join our camps feel they are “a pretty average player” as Kimi Storsjö felt about himself 3 years ago.

Storsjö is an example for all youth players!

He proves that with hard work and determination is possible to reach a higher level and that NF Academy is helping players reaching a greater level, and in his case, to reach the professional level.

This season Kimi Storsjö will play with Kalmar FF 2003 and 2004 team. In three years, he hopes to make his senior debut.

Steep learning curve

Three years back Storsjö was not the same prospect that he is today. He was in his own words “a pretty average player”, but he had the drive and determination to get better.

Much better.

And he did. With the NF Academy support.

– My father scrolled the internet for football camps and he stumbled upon NF Academy. He asked me if I wanted to sign up for a camp and I said yes in a heartbeat. That turned out to be a wise decision.

Storsjö says that his ability to read the game has been greatly improved over the last three years.

– I have been to a number of camps and tournament. 14 in all, I think. During this time I have learned a lot about how I should position myself on the pitch. The Portuguese coaches have expanded my understanding of the game and today I make smarter decisions than I used to.

Competitive training

Storsjö says that the sessions with NF Academy were always competitive and with very high intensity.

– To attend NF Academy’s camps was a step up as most of the players were really skilled and also highly motivated. This meant that I had to think faster, pass faster and run faster. I was basically primed to play better. And this eventually made me a better player.

Another thing that was striking to Storsjö was the NF Academy coaches mentality.

– They tried to pass on a winner mentality to us. That was refreshing and necessary. To win is, after all, an essential part of senior football.

Like a family

Over the last three years, Storsjö has developed strong relationships with coaches and players.

– One really good thing about NF Academy is that they have recurring coaches and players. The coaches can, therefore, give you better advice as they get to know you over time and start to see you as a whole person. Its also cool to meet the players again and again. Some of the recurring players are pretty good friends of mine today.

Storsjö says that he has memories from NF Academy.

– It is a reason that I kept coming back. I have attended different tournaments and camps both in Sweden and abroad.

A textbook example

Kimi Storsjö development over the last three years is in many ways a textbook example of what NF Academy wants to achieve: We want to make every player maximize their long and short term potential.

All players can´t become professional players within a season or two. But with proper coaching, they might be good enough to get a call-up for a regional team. Or perhaps even the national team.

We want to help players to take baby-steps as well as giant leaps in their careers. Different players have different needs.

In other words: We are offering development at every level.

We want to release every player’s potential. And there is potential in everybody with the determination to learn.

Just like it was in Kimi three years ago.

– NF Academy made me a much better player, says Kimi.

We are excited what the future will bring for him.
