The 2009 player has since had a great development with national and international programs as a supplement to the daily training at home.
In recent years, offers of a change of club from Boldklubben Marienlyst have also come, but Sonnenborg chose the way forward in NF Academy.
I chose to join NF Academy further, because I wanted to challenge myself. The methodology, and the way they train in Portugal suits me very well. It is different and more technically focused than in Denmark.
In addition, the coaches have been very good at helping me work on taking the next step in my development, says Julius Sonnenborg.

Pro Contracts
Some offers are just too good to refuse.
As it turned out when Brøndby wanted him as part of their U17 squad from the coming season.
I chose Brøndby, because it is one of the biggest clubs you can be a part of, and because I feel that it is where I can develop best as a player based on the plan Brøndby has laid out for me, says Julius, who has previously opted out of several other academy offers in Denmark.
He believes the choice to continue with NF Academy has been crucial for him to now get the offer from Brøndby.
NF Academy has a very professional environment. The coaches have a lot of experience from top academies in European big clubs. Through NF Academy, I learned a lot about what it’s like to be part of a performance environment, where you don’t know teammates or coaches from before.
You often end up outside your comfort zone, as everything is done in English. It has been very developing for me both as a player and a person, he continues.
Julius Sonnenborg comes from Odense on Fyn, where he has played for the club Boldklubben Marienlyst.
Now he is moving into the Danish capital and Superliga games for Brøndby to strive for.
My next goal is to establish myself permanently at U17 in Brøndby. Of course, it takes hard work, as there are many good players there. I’m prepared to do the job that needs to be done,” says an excited Sonnenborg.
The road to Brøndby
NF Academy is the Portuguese big club Sporting CP’s extending arm in the Nordic region as a scout and partner.
Cristiano Ronaldo was part of the youth academy of Sporting CP from 1998-2002. Then he was selected for the club’s A-team. The following year, the adventure started with the friendly match against Manchester United, which has since given the world artist the Ballon d’Or title five times.
It takes a lot of training and dedication to achieve the same, but NF Academy gives its players a unique chance to take the same career path as CR7.
Julius Sonnenborg has participated in many of NF Academy’s programs and international tournaments, where, among other things, training inside Sporting’s world-renowned academy has been part of the journey.
At the same time, I have played in my local club, but I have participated in several tournaments and programs in Spain and Portugal. In addition, I have participated in a number of NF programs in Denmark, says Julius, who recommends others to follow the same course as him.
The offer NF Academy stands for is developing both as a player and a person. It has had a huge impact on where I am today, and is something I can really recommend to become a part of for others who are looking for development and challenges, concludes Brøndby player Julian Sonnenborg.
