Oskar Nielsen (16) from Denmark, one of the players at last year’s NF International, joined us at hoping for a football camp that was more competitive than others. After the camp he told us his experience with NF International had exceeded his expectations: -The coaches gave me helpful feedback, telling me clearly how I can improve different aspects of my game. I left the camp a better player and extremely motivated, he said.

16-year-old Norwegian Eirik Valhovd also valued the international experience, playing with the top talent in Scandinavia and training with the Portuguese coaches :
– It’s a great learning experience to see how they teach and play football at NF Academy. Meeting new talented players and coaches with different techniques is fun, and I even brought home a few of the exercises from the camp to my club at home, he said.

More than just a camp

Another dimension to the camp, of course, is that not only is this a camp with talented players and world-class coaches, it’s arguably also one of the most significant football talent contest in Scandinavia with a unique prize.  

The NF Academy coaches will pick a player per age category from all NF International events and invite them to join the NF Qualification Camp, this August in Denmark. 

From there, a total of eight players can win a training week with Sporting CP where they’ll have the chance to show their skills training with the team, and the Sporting CP coaches for a week in Portugal.

After that, the sky is the limit…

All roads lead to Rome, as the saying goes. And there are also many ways to Sporting CP.

However, the path of least resistance is to attend one of our NF International events where experienced talent developers can coach you in a competitive setting.

One of the Swedish players who got the opportunity for a trial with Sporting in 2019, Bashir Huseen Bashiir from Alvesta GIF cherished the opportunity. – I really like that you can go all the way to Sporting by signing up to a local camp, he said.  

Scandinavian talents are making their mark

So far Sporting CP has been greatly impressed by the young Scandinavian talents in the camps and who come to Portugal for the training sessions.
– Last summer we sent a scout to NF Qualification Camp in Denmark to evaluate the level of the NF Academy players. We were impressed with NF Academy’s work and also saw potential in many of their players, says Academy director in Sporting CP Paulo Gomes.

Two of the players that end up going on a trial will also be awarded with an NF Academy scholarship that will kickstart their professional career.
