Like the other programs, NF Academy offers top quality experience and support to ambitious players that are motivated, dedicated and want to take the next step in their career.

NF Career Management also give players opportunities to test themselves in different environments and get international references. It`s a supplement to what the player usually do at the pitch with his team at home.

The program is for boys and girls from 2002 to 2007 and fits outfield players as well as goalkeepers.

NF Career Management is a great suplement for Jarik.

– I think it’s very useful because I get to gain insight on how Portuguese goalkeeper coaches want their keepers to behave. In Norway they have a specific behaviour in a situation, and another in Portugal. This gives me the choice on whether i want to use the Norwegian style or Portuguese. I have learnt a lot from the goalkeeper coach and implemented it in my game which has helped my performance, tells Jarik Sundling.

It´s in the details. For taking out the potential from there, you need someone to show you how.

– My goalkeeper coach works in a top Portuguese club, and is very knowledgeable. He focuses on the process instead of the outcome in situations. Which means that sometimes I have a great save, but when we go back and analyse it, it’s clear to see that if i, for example would be better positioned or if my hands were further forward, i could have caught it or pushed it further wide.

The same goes for goals conceded, where it doesn’t necessarily mean I did something wrong if i concede, explains the young Norwegian goalkeeper.

NF Academy will create opportunities with Portuguese clubs for both trials and possible professional contracts or to play abroad as an amateur.

Sundling did his first trial with the portuguese giant SportingCP.

-It was a really good experience. In Sporting i could test myself against some of the best young goalkeepers in Portugal. I saw how professional everyone was, from the head coaches to the kit men. The goalkeeper training sessions were mostly based around agility and fast transition from situations. Everybody tried to learn, help and get better every training session, tells Jarik Sundling.

A great suplement

Over the last two years, Jarik has shown a good development, and his father points out this program as significant for his son´s progress.

– I think this is a combination of extreme dedication to train, good coaching and training environment in daily trainings – supplemented with the cooperation with NF Academy. I think that for Jarik the NF Career Manangement is a perfect mix to his daily training work.

Both the following up by the goalkeeper coach, and the visit to Portuguese clubs for trials is helping him developing, tells Nils Sundling.

He thinks this program might be extra useful, because it goes one to one. The coach and the player.

-I think the program is useful because the feedback on Jariks matches and training from the goalkeeper coach is very detailed and thorough. They are using one hour after every match analysing his performance and it is a great supplement to the feedback he gets from his team trainers. My impression is that the goalkeeper coach is very professional and skilled and always well prepared to the sessions to get an optimal result, completes Nils Sundling.

The special one

The goalkeeper-position might be the specialist role out on the field. Which requires a specialist coach for taking you through the NF Career Management program.

-It’s a professional analysis of the training and games at technical and tactical level, always evaluating the athlete’s performance according to the weekly planning. It is supported by several digital programs that help to make the message more appealing and easy to understand.

Dynamics of visualization and expression are created with examples of international references, other professional goalkeepers of high level, starts the goalkeeper coach.

You should listen carefully, because here is a lot to follow.

-In the first phase we identify in detail the profile of the goalkeepers we have. If we are talking about an offensive / defensive goalkeeper, if he plays in anticipation / reaction, his morphological / physical characteristics and what kind of training is more adequate, analysing the biggest weaknesses related to elementary characteristics such as basic technique, positioning and movements.

We try to understand how the goalkeeper is integrated at a strategic level in the team, and how this role can be improved in the game model, watching the behaviour of the team with and without the ball, tells the NF Academy goalkeeper coach.

The idea with these meetings is for the athlete to understand the different levels where he can improve and how to do it.

– It is always proposed real and achievable goals, where we go through all the specific contexts of the position, such as shot, 1xGR, crossing, sweeper keeper, distribution and back pass. Fundamentally it is to transmit the methodology used in goalkeeper training in Portugal, completes our goalkeeper coach.

How to improve

Back to coach Ricardo Silva. He is doing the program with the Danish player Sebastian Ammentorp.

He finds NF Career Management valuable to his development as a young player.

– The program is useful, because i can use it to improve my game and get an understanding of what I need to improve. By working with an experience coach that can help me get better by looking into the video footage.

Ricardo Silva has helped me a lot. Because I was looking for the mistakes that I needed to fix to understand what I needed to improve. When I talked with him about the videos he gave me very good feedback to what I could improve, and the understanding of how to improve it and how to notice what I needed, explains Sebastian Ammentorp.
