The program for 2023 has already been released. Read about how to contact our sports department, to become part of what will be the all-time season of player development in collaboration with Top European academies.
We start the journey already in the Riga Cup in the New Year, before the journey for our players goes on to Elite training in beautiful Cascais. After that, both academy tournaments and player development programs in Spain, Sweden, Germany and Portugal are on the calendar.
Now you can become part of our international programs that have helped many young players to take their next step in their careers or development towards bigger clubs and national teams.
Parents and players now have the option of a mapping interview with one of our Portuguese coaches in the sports department. You make contact directly by filling in the form on our website. Possibly through participating in one of our many local camps, where all players are evaluated by the coaches.
There, they will receive further follow-up if they want further challenges through our international programs, starts sports manager Goncalo Moura.

The right challenge at the right time
Much of the player development takes place by training and playing with a group that is at the same skill level as yourself. At the same time, one can get the chance to develop through internships with older age groups.
Our coaches are very keen to find which program best suits the player in terms of skill and ambition level. Through that mapping, coaches in collaboration with parents and players set up a sensible developmental plan for the 2023 season.
We want the parents to talk about school and training at home, challenges, wishes and ambitions their child has. It is important to identify both the player and the person, so that together we can find the best structure in the training work going forward.
Towards the end of the video meeting, the trainer will present a personal annual plan with both local and international programs based on the content of the conversation, says Gonçalo Moura.
The best development
One of the experienced Portuguese coaches you meet in NF Academy is head coach Ricardo Silva. As mentioned, the road to becoming part of our academy teams and programs can also go through participation in local programs where you live on a daily basis like Team Training in Norway.
We see their evaluation in each NF program. We checked the last evaluation to see if there has been an evolution, and talked to the coaches who have been lately with the player. To understand the characteristics and level in order to be able to forward to the player for a program, that is more adjusted taking into account the challenge and objective.
Each player is a player and each program is a program, says head coach Ricardo Silva.
NF Academy has previously considered the players from program to program. Through the new way of working, the desire is to give both players and parents a more comprehensive follow-up and player development plan.
Both to raise the level, but not least to find the right level to where the player is today.
In our view, this is the best development. At the same time, we will be able to fulfill many parents’ and players’ wishes for more predictability and holistic planning throughout an entire calendar year.
