Join two of Europe’s biggest football tournaments in Denmark as part of NF Academy’s crew this summer.
Those who want to be the best train when the rest rests. The school holidays are a great time to take steps as a player. When the domestic series takes a summer break, the grass is often at its greenest, so why not use the time to seek development when the sun is at its highest in the Danish sky?
Together with NF Academy, which over the years has built up a strong position as a player developer in Scandinavia. Now the academy is also going new ways, to give its players challenges in a company they have never competed before.
After sending teams to tournaments in Eastern Europe, Sweden and Spain earlier this year, it is the first time NF Academy participates in NF Selection Cup No. 1 and Vildbjerg Cup.
These will be exciting tournaments for us this year, especially for our Swedish and Norwegian players. One of the new elements for them will be to play in the 8v8 format, which is not so common in their home country.
It will be a valuable experience and an opportunity to develop in a new setting, says NF Academy coach Rodrigo Silva.

First tournament
NF Academy is also the Portuguese top club Sporting’s extending arm in Scandinavia, which means that young talented players can get opportunities for training stays. There are several NF Academy players who have followed that course.
For NF Selection Cup No. 1 in beautiful Frederikshavn, NF Academy will field teams of players born in 2012 and 2013.
This is considered one of the best tournaments for youth in the world, and takes place July 6-12. It is also the 40th edition, and here you come to a tournament that has gathered everything from the sporting to the social in one area. Which creates a lively atmosphere.
New this year is school accommodation. Something that is more budget-friendly, but which will also build closer ties between the players.
An exciting news about this tournament is that players will spend the night at a school. Something we have done in our NF Qualificastions Camps before, but it will be the first time in an international tournament for NF Academy.
This will be a unique and enriching social experience, encouraging interaction between players from different teams and countries, Silva continues.
Development
Vildbjerg Cup is considered one of Europe’s largest youth tournaments on a fantastic facility with 44 grass pitches of top quality.
Ahead of the tournament, two extra days have been added for training and cultivating the social before the first match.
NF Academy’s professional and experienced coaching team follows the players closely, so that they develop, improve skills, and make lasting friendships along the way.
July 29 – August 3, NF Academy will field crews in both the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 classes. This is a top offer in addition to the activity in your own club, which at this time is still in holiday mode.
Our goal is to offer competitive opportunities for players across different countries, so that they can test themselves during the summer and come back to their clubs stronger, says Silva, who is searching for new players in addition to the academy also giving existing players the opportunity to gain another new international experience.
We always aim to be competitive in the tournaments we participate in, and thanks to a solid base of players, we are confident of having strong performances at different levels, concludes the experienced NF Academy coach.
